The 13th International Conference on Geosynthetics (ICG) 2026, hosted by the North American Chapter of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS-NA), is themed “Legacy, Evolution & Revolution in Geosynthetics.” The theme reflects the many transitions occurring in the field, in our shared responsibility to climate and society, and in how we respond to the challenges and opportunities presented to us by these transitions.

Organizer IGS North America has put together a rich programme of exclusive talks, courses, workshops and networking opportunities exploring the theme ‘Legacy, Evolution & Revolution in Geosynthetics‘.
The four-yearly event, this time running September 13-17 at the Palais des Congrès (Montreal Convention Centre) in Montreal, Canada, expects to showcase more than 440 presentations, a full day of short courses, technical sessions, and special sessions from the IGS Diversity Committee and IGS Young Members Committee.
The conference is also set to welcome a representative from the United Nations at a special UN Sustainable Development Goals plenary on September 16. There will also be two further plenaries on this date, to be announced soon.

Three unmissable keynote lectures on September 14, 15 and 17, given by Professor Jie Han, Craig Benson, and Pietro Rimoldi, as part of the Giroud, Rowe and Bathurst lecture series, respectively.
Five short courses on Sunday, September 13, including one on Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence co-organized by the IGS Young Members Committee. IGS Young Members can register for this course for just $50 using a special code available by emailing general@13icg-montreal.org.
Cheering on their favourite team when the International Association of Geosynthetic Installers (IAGI) holds its GeoGames on Monday, September 14, testing the skills of its members against the clock. Stay competitive and lace up your boots for the IGS Football Match on September 15, due to be played at McGill University on a field built with geosynthetics on rehabilitated land.
Hearing the Society’s latest activities and ambitions at the IGS General Assembly meeting on September 16.
Engaging with external organizations due to include IAGI, the Flexible Geomembrane Institute, and ASTM International Committee D35, who will be hosting sessions complementing IGS technical sessions to encourage greater dialogue between the IGS and those communities.
