Approaches to creating a more diverse workplace will be shared by the IGS Diversity Committee (DC) at the 13th International Conference on Geosynthetics (13ICG).
Attracting and retaining a more representative talent pool is key to a flourishing and healthy industry. Different perspectives and experiences drive innovation, decision- making and creativity to help better serve markets and customers with equally diverse needs. However, the approaches and value of doing so is not always fully understood.
The IGS DC will help demystify diversity at its seminar, ‘Evolution & Revolution of the Workforce: Strategies for Attracting New and Diverse Talent in Geosynthetics‘ on Thursday, September 17 2026.
The session forms part of a rich programme of events at the 13th ICG, this time being held from September 13-17, at the Palais des Congrès (Montreal Convention Centre) in Montreal, Canada. Hosted by IGS North America, its theme is ‘Legacy, Evolution & Revolution in Geosynthetics’.
The IGS DC session aims to highlight current and future workforce challenges, strategies to attract diverse talent from early education to college, and best practices in recruitment and retention.

Ms Pouliot said: “Our session offers an action-led deep dive on best practices to engage and keep a diverse workforce that better represents the world we live in and the clients we serve. Our session also reinforces the 13ICG’s overall theme of legacy and evolution – a call to action to make a meaningful difference to the industry for its long-term prosperity. As with all IGS DC events we see this as the start of a conversation so come along to hear and be heard so we can make a greater impact on these important topics together”.
